Twenty years ago we founded Mirza & Nacey Research. More recently we established The Fees Bureau to cover our expanding publishing activities. Throughout those years, we have focused on providing business information for architects – large and small, or via bodies such as the RIBA or the Architects’ Council of Europe. Over the past twenty years, Mirza & Nacey Research has • developed the profession’s longest established benchmarking survey, the Architects’ Quarterly Workload Survey • run the annual Employment & Earnings Survey with the RIBA • helped hundreds of architects and practices get the information they need to set fees, measure financial performance and keep salaries competitive To mark twenty years of working with architects, we decided to look at how the business of architecture has changed in that time. Using our extensive database we present some of our own research findings which we hope you find interesting. So you’ll see the total number of architects has changed very little while workloads rocketed; after the loss of recommended fee scales, average fees and hourly rates dipped but then rose; and remuneration has increased at a faster rate than inflation. This research is split into four sections - to view a section click on a link below: |
